Samuel Beckett manuscript sells for £962,500
I’m not sure what amazes me the most; the fact that one of his first editions sold for £12000 last year after it was given to a charity shop, or that his pages contain enough doodles to put my own writing-blocked scribbles to shame. The reference to there being ‘eight different versions of the opening sentence’ sounds familiar as well.
Sadly, as we writers adopt the newer technologies and move away from pen and paper, it may be that fewer and fewer of these treasures will exist soon.
